Round Pen
Indoor Arena - Round Pen - Open Space - Nearby TrailsRounds pens are an excellent avenue to develop a communication between horse and owner. Without a clear language between the two, the fullest enjoyment of this relationship can never be found. Because of this, we have three round pens at NorthWest Horse Park so there are ample opportunities to develop and maintain this communication between horse and owner.
Green Round Pen - This 50 foot round pen is located adjacent to the covered arena and has sand footing to handle the elements. Placed next to the covered arena, it also helps to block horse and rider from the Pacific Northwest elements to some extent. Being next to the arena allows riders to easily move into the larger riding venue when ready.
Grey Round Pen - This 65 foot round pen is located adjacent to the stables, has sand footing and is placed between two barns. This pen is large enough to allow your horse to freely move at any gate while limiting the risk of stress on their body. The footing is suitable during most month of the year and lights allow you to work regardless of daylight hours.
Wood Round Pen - This 60 foot round pen is located at the entrance of NorthWest Horse Park. Made of wood, this round pen has a hogs fuel (wood) footing and placed adjacent to Orville Road and several distractions. Why would we put this in such a distracting place? Having a secure environment to fine tune or test your cues is ideal. Why not see how well your horse reacts to new noises while in the confines of a round pen rather than on the trail or in an event.
